About
LESA

For more than 50 years, LESA has proudly supported Alberta’s legal profession through high-quality continuing legal education programs and resources.

Our offerings are designed to support the full spectrum of legal professionals across Alberta. Whether you’re an articling student building your foundation, a new lawyer establishing your practice, an experienced practitioner pursuing advanced training, or a legal support professional strengthening your skills, we’re here to support you at every stage of your career.

As the educational and professional development needs of Alberta’s legal community continue to evolve, we remain committed to delivering relevant, practical, and engaging learning opportunities that set a standard for excellence.

Our work is made possible by hundreds of volunteers, a team of skilled professionals, and a dedicated Board of Directors and Advisory Council whose contributions have helped earn LESA a reputation for excellence across Alberta, Canada, and beyond.

In November 2025, we proudly celebrated our 50th anniversary. While our content, delivery methods, and educational approaches have evolved over time, our purpose has remained the same: to be the lifelong partner of Alberta’s legal profession in the pursuit of continuing legal excellence.

Our Mission:

To serve the spectrum of educational and professional development needs of Alberta’s lawyers, articling students, and legal support staff.

Our Vision:

To set standards of excellence in the education of lawyers, articling students, and legal support staff.

Our Values:

  • We are professional. We believe in providing consistent, high-quality pre-call and continuing legal education designed to support the legal profession in effectively, ethically, and competently serving the public.
  • We are collaborative. We believe in building relationships with members of the legal community, and with other continuing legal education providers, to continually enhance our offerings.
  • We are innovative. We believe in leveraging current knowledge and technology to provide engaging educational experiences that respond to the diverse needs of the legal profession.
