Alberta Wills and Estates Legislation and Alberta Labour Code Practitioner’s Manual are available in hardcopy format only; they are not available on the LESA Library. The LESA Library does not include access to on-demand programs but LESA Library subscribers (excluding complimentary practice management subscribers) automatically receive 50% off on-demand program purchases when logged into LESA.org.
How often is the LESA Library updated?
As new papers are presented at our live programs, materials are uploaded to the LESA Library. You can expect to see papers and precedents from a program posted within two weeks of the last date the program runs. Publications are updated when there is a substantive change in law, typically every 1-3 years. Subscribers will receive periodic emails notifying them of newly available resources on the LESA Library as well as when a publication update is available (subscribers can opt out from these emails at anytime).
Can I download or print content from the LESA Library?
The LESA Library Terms of Use prohibits downloading and printing significant portions of the LESA Library. Subscribers are permitted to download or print papers, checklists, samples, precedents, and forms for use in their legal research or law practice.
Publications are only available for online viewing. Downloading or printing of practice manuals is prohibited. Practice manual appendices (which include precedents, forms, and samples) can be downloaded separately. If you would like to purchase a hardcopy of a subscribed publication at a discounted price of $195 as a library subscriber, please email [email protected] for more information.

Are LESA Library materials available to purchase without subscribing?
You may purchase individual program papers and hardcopy publications at LESA.org. Occasionally some program papers are not made available for purchase and are only available on the LESA Library. Precedents are not available for individual sale. You can contact [email protected] if you’re having trouble finding a particular resource
What is the difference between the LESA Library and the LESA Classroom?
The LESA Library is a subscription-based service that provides you with digital access to LESA resources, including program papers, checklists, editable samples and precedents, fillable forms, and publications.
The LESA Classroom hosts LESA’s online courses and on-demand programs (recordings of past live programs). The LESA Classroom is not a subscription service; each course or on-demand program must be purchased separately at LESA.org and then accessed through the LESA Classroom.
The LESA Library does not include access to on-demand programs. LESA Library subscribers (excluding complimentary practice management subscribers) automatically receive 50% off all on-demand programs.
Can I preview the LESA Library before subscribing?
If you are still on the fence about whether the LESA Library is right for you, you can sign up for LESA’s complimentary Practice Management subscription. This collection of quality practice management paper and precedents are available for free. All paid subscriptions to the LESA Library include automatic access to the Practice Management collection.

How can I find the most recently added content to the LESA Library?
Users can use the filter menu to search for papers, precedents, publications, or all three, with or without any additional filters. Once a search is made on the filter menu, use the ‘sort by’ button to sort results by “Publication Date (Newest)”.
How do I find resources intended for legal support staff or new lawyers?
Library resources are grouped into collections by area of law, but we have filters to narrow search results to legal support staff and practice foundations topics. To find resources for legal support staff, you can add the filter for “Legal Support Staff” in the filter menu and click “Apply Filters”. To find resources for new lawyers, you can add the filter for “Practice Foundations” in the filter menu and click “Apply Filters”.
Please note that you will only see results from the areas of law included in your subscription plan. To subscribe to additional areas of law, please call us at 780.420.1987 or email us at [email protected].
Why is some Library content ‘greyed out’ or inaccessible?
Library content not included in your current subscription plan will be ‘greyed out’, or inaccessible. If you believe you should have access to the collection, first check to ensure that you’re logged into your LESA.org account. You can also check your subscription status by going to “Account” then “Subscription”. If your renewal payment has failed, your subscription access will be paused until payment is remitted. If your subscription is active and you still are having trouble accessing subscribed content, please call us at 780.420.1987 or email us at [email protected].
Subscription Plans
How do I check if I or my firm already have an active LESA Library subscription?
You can check if you have an active Library subscription by going to your LESA Account page and clicking the “My Memberships” tab to see your current subscription status to the LESA Library or other LESA resources. What are the individual subscription options?
Individuals may purchase a LESA Library subscription to one, two, or all six core areas of law. All subscriptions are a 12-month commitment, whether billed in 12 monthly payments or annually.
All paid subscriptions include access to our specialized areas of law and practice management collections.
What are the firm subscription options?
Most firms may purchase a LESA Library subscription to one, two, or all six core areas of law. Law firms of 21 lawyers and over must purchase a subscription to the complete LESA Library. Firm subscriptions are divided into tiers based on the total number of lawyers in their firm (all lawyers in the office location must be included). All subscriptions are a 12-month commitment, whether billed in 12 monthly payments or annually. For full pricing options for firms, please click here.
All paid subscriptions include our specialized areas of law and our practice management content.
What is the difference between a complete subscription and subscribing to one or two areas of law?
LESA Library resources are organized into six core areas of law: Business Law, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law, Family Law, Real Estate, and Wills and Estates. Each core area includes papers, precedents, and at least one publication for that area of law. For individual and most firm subscriptions, you may choose to subscribe to one or two core area of law collections. The LESA Library also contains two non-core area of law collections containing papers and precedents: Practice Management and Specialized Areas of Law. Whether you subscribe to one, two or all six core areas, you’ll receive access to the practice management and specialized areas of law collections.
Firms of 21 lawyers and up must purchase a subscription to the complete LESA Library.
Not all lawyers in my firm will be active users of the LESA Library; can I purchase a lower subscription tier?
Firm subscription rates are based on the total number of lawyers in the firm who are called to the Alberta bar. Firms with multiple offices may purchase a subscription for one office location only, but all lawyers within that office location must be included in the subscription. Firm-based pricing is significantly reduced on a cost-per-lawyer basis to account for the fact that some lawyers may access the resource frequently and others may only use it occasionally, if at all. The firm-based pricing structure brings the cost significantly lower than $895 per lawyer, which is the cost for individual users.
If only one or two lawyers at the firm require a subscription, each lawyer must purchase their own individual subscription and their access and materials must only be for personal use. Sharing of Library materials with non-subscribers is strictly prohibited. LESA Library Policies & Terms of Use can be reviewed here:
Can I buy an individual subscription if my firm does not wish to purchase a firm subscription?
Yes, you may purchase an individual subscription if your firm does not wish to purchase a firm subscription. Lawyers with an individual subscription are subject to the LESA Library Policies & Terms of Use which strictly prohibits the sharing of any LESA Library materials to others who are not subscribers (except for legal support staff under your direct supervision).
Can legal support staff or law firm librarians purchase a LESA Library subscription?
Yes! Anyone can purchase a LESA Library subscription. Legal support staff also have permission to access the library subscription of the lawyer they directly report to. All subscribers are subject to the LESA Library Policies & Terms of Use which prohibits the sharing of any LESA Library materials to others who are not subscribers (except for legal support staff under your direct supervision). Law firm librarians and other support staff may not provide copies of materials in the LESA Library to lawyers in their firm who are not subscribers.
Can my legal support staff access my LESA Library subscription?
Yes, legal support staff are permitted to use the account of a lawyer they directly report to. Support staff may not provide copies of materials in the LESA Library to lawyers in their firm who are not subscribers.
Can I make changes to my subscription during the subscription year?
Whether billed annually or monthly, LESA Library subscriptions are a 12-month commitment. Subscriptions cannot be cancelled early within the 12-month term and subscribers are not permitted to downgrade their subscription partway through their subscription year. To upgrade your subscription, including subscribing to additional areas of law or subscribing to a larger firm size, please call us at 780.420.1987 or email us at [email protected].
Firm Subscription Management
How do I set up access for the firm’s lawyers after purchasing a firm subscription?
The person who purchases a firm subscription is assigned as the subscription’s account manager. If you’d like to change the primary account manager for your subscription, email us at [email protected]. An account manager may invite or remove members of their firm subscription and see a list of current users. Account managers can choose whether they want to take a spot on the subscription. To manage your team, click on “Account” and then click “Firms”. You can invite or remove members or assign the manager duties to additional members of your team. Watch a video demo here.
When an account manager invites someone to join the firm subscription, the invited person will receive an email from [email protected]. The email will ask them to click a link to a registration page to join the subscription. They must create a LESA.org account (or sign into their pre-existing LESA.org account) on this registration page to confirm their place on the subscription and access the library resources.
If someone has been invited to join the subscription, but has not completed the registration page process, they will be listed as a “pending” user on the account manager’s user list. Invitation emails can be resent by the account manager.
Can my firm add or remove users at any time during the subscription?
Yes, account managers may add or remove members within their subscription tier. If the number of lawyers you want to add to your firm subscription requires an upgrade in your subscription tier, please contact us at 780.420.1987 or [email protected]. Watch a demo on this here [link].
Who can view and edit my firm’s subscription details?
Account managers of firm subscriptions can see a list of current users and pending (invited) users, and can invite and remove users from the subscription. Account managers can also see and edit billing details as well as their saved payment method.
Firm subscription users can only see the details of their own access, including their active/expired status, what subscription they have access to, and the name of the firm subscription team.
Cancellations and Renewals
How can I check if my subscription is active?
To check the details of your LESA Library subscription, log in to your LESA.org account and click on “Account”, then click “Subscription”. This page will include all subscription details, including start date, next payment date, status, saved payment details, and any orders associated with the subscription. Users of firm subscriptions who are not the account manager are unable to see details on the subscription page but can check their subscription status on the “Membership” page on their account.
Does my subscription auto-renew?
LESA Library subscriptions are set to auto-renew every 12 months, whether they are billed annually or in 12 monthly payments. In most cases, your credit card will automatically be charged pursuant to your existing subscription plan. If you do not want your subscription to renew for another year, the autorenewal can be disabled in the final three weeks of your renewal. Subscribers will receive email reminders three weeks prior and three days prior to the date their subscription renews. These emails will have instructions on how to make changes to your subscription, including updating account information or cancelling your subscription before renewal.
How do I update my saved payment?
You can update your saved card on file by going to “Account” then click “My Subscription”, then “Change Payment”. If your payment fails during a renewal, your subscription access will be paused until payment is remitted.
Can I subscribe for less than one year?
The LESA Library is an annual subscription service whether billed annually or in 12 monthly payments. Subscriptions are not available for terms of less than one year and early cancellation is not permitted.
How can I cancel my LESA Library subscription?
The LESA Library is a 12-month subscription commitment, whether billed annually or monthly. Subscriptions cannot be cancelled early within the 12-month term. Your renewal can be cancelled 3 weeks prior to your annual renewal date on your “Subscription” page on your LESA account, or you can contact us at [email protected] to cancel your automatic annual renewal. Reminder notices are sent by email prior to each renewal.
