Practice Fundamentals Program
For lawyers newly called to the Alberta bar
The Practice Fundamentals Program is a free professional development opportunity for 2024-2026 Alberta bar calls, and is offered in collaboration with the Law Society of Alberta. This program provides online, self-study modules covering content such as building lawyer-client relationships, improving practice and file management, drafting contracts, drafting pleadings and memos, time and email management, lawyer well-being, and more.
The program will gradually expand over the next few years with new material (online self-study courses as well as optional online workshops and webinars) added each year. Scroll below for instructions on how to register for this program, how to access the content, and for details on automatic discounts for registrants of the program.
Note: Access to this program is granted based on Alberta call date (2024-2026) and LSA roll number (as included in your LESA.org account). If you were called to the Alberta bar prior to 2024, you can purchase select courses from the Practice Fundamentals Program here.

- Create a LESA.org account (or update your existing account with your roll number and year of call)
- Register (for free) for the Practice Fundamentals Program
- Access the Practice Fundamentals Program on the LESA Classroom
- Join the LinkedIn discussion group (see below)
- Register (for free) for upcoming webinar(s) and workshop(s), if available (see below)
